Coal imports through Fangchenggang Port, located in southern China¡¯s Guangxi Province, jumped to 4.63 million tonnes in the first seven months of this year, up 29.5% as compared with the previous year, according to data released by Fangcheng Customs recently.
The imports accounts for 57.3% of Guangxi¡¯s total imports, ranking the first among the cities of the province by imported volume.
The increase of coal imports is mainly attributed to some factors as follows,
Firstly, Fangcheng was in high demand of coal in Jan-Jul as driven by the recovery of global economy and fast development of the city¡¯s economy. www.EnergyChinaForum.com Secondly, China has built up a number of coal reserve bases this year in a bid to ensure supply during the seasonally high demand for coal period or unexpected bad weather.
