China Petroleum & Chemical Corp, the nation¡¯s biggest oil refiner, will delay the startup of a new crude distillation unit at its Changling plant after heavy rains hampered construction, a refinery official said. The plant in southern Hunan province will postpone trial runs of the 8 million metric-tonne-a-year, or 160,000 barrel-a-day, unit to mid-November from end-October, said the official, who asked not to be identified because of company rules. Sinopec, as China Petroleum is known, will keep Changling¡¯s oil processing volume at about 300,000 tonnes this month, unchanged from August, the official said. Sinopec Changling currently has a 3 million tonne-a-year crude distillation unit.(Edited by EnergyChinaForum.com. For more information, please email to: info@energychinaforum.com)
