¡º Qingdao-Weifang Chemical Pipeline Gets Go-ahead ¡» [2008-11-21]

Weifang City, an emerging oil refining and chemical base in Shandong Province, and Qingdao Port will be connected by a 200-kilometer pipeline for heavy liquid chemical raw material transportation.

The local government has approved this project, which involves total investment of CNY 1.217 billion and will be able to transport 15 million tons of liquid chemicals per year, easing the tightly supply of these raw materials to Weifang.

Starting from the dock of the oil port branch of Qingdao Port, the pipeline will go through Jiaonan City under Qingdao, Jiaozhou City, and Hanting District, Gaomi City, Changyi City within Weifang City, and end in the coastal economic development zone of Weifang.

There are four local refining and chemical companies in Weifang now and two in Dongying City, the neighbor of Weifang. The six companies gain combined processing capacity over 11 million tons and are curbed by the insufficient supply via roads.
