China's coal imports decreased 6.3% to 3.5 million tons in October, compared with the same period of last year, according to the statistics released by General Administration of Customs of China on Monday.
In the first ten months of this year, China imported 35.9 million tons of coal, down 15% from a year earlier.
Meanwhile, China's coal exports amounted to 38.28 million tons, representing a year-on-year decrease of 11.5%.
In October alone, the coal export of China amounted to 2.56 million tons.
The decrease of coal export and import in the first ten months of this year is mainly attributed to the U.S.-led global financial turmoil which causes the weakening of industrial demand for coal, according to analysts.
